Summer
Creative Writing Workshop Aug. 9 at Garfield Farm Museum
Campton Hills, IL- Days gone past would see many children visiting a relative's farm for the summer. Experience bucolic days of summer life for yourself and become inspired on Sunday August 9th at 1 pm at Garfield Farm Museum for an afternoon of creative writing led by Crystal Hollis, MA. The open prairie and wooded landscape, the in-progress restoration of the timber frame barn, the gardens in bloom, and the relaxed setting amongst the farm animals offer an experience unknown to many in modern life. All experience levels are welcome to participate in this writing skills session. Ms. Hollis has studied under several published authors and earned her MA in Creative Writing in London. Her fall and spring workshops were very well received and the vocal Narragansett turkeys have become a favorite and the subjects of several writings. Past attendees are currently in the progress of publishing a collection of their writings based on their afternoons at the farm and attendees of this workshop can look forward to this process as well. Participants should bring a pen, paper, bottled water, and comfortable shoes for walking. The workshop is ideally suited for high school students and adults. Interested persons should contact info@garfieldfarm.org or call 630-584-8485. There is a $6 donation to the museum for the workshop. Garfield Farm Museum is located at 3N016 Garfield Road in Campton Hills, IL. |
