Animal Domestication Lectures March 24

HILLS, IL Garfield
Farm Museum will host a pair of lectures on animal
domestication. The March 24th lectures will provide a
basic introduction to the domestication process at 1 pm
and a more in-depth look at 3 pm. Museum volunteer
Samira Bamberger will provide instruction at both
lectures.
The 1 pm will cover the possibilities of why humans began domesticating animals, common misconceptions, and the histories behind the most common farm animals. Discussion will include basic terminology, the domestication process, and the impact these animals have had on society. The talk will also cover Garfield Farm’s heritage livestock and how they have impacted modern breeds.
