CAMPTON HILLS, IL Garfield Farm
Museum will host two lectures this month as part of its antique lecture
series. Both lectures will be given by members of the Chicago
Suburban Antiques Dealers Association (CSADA).
On Sunday, February 21st at 2pm, Maureen Little
of Pigeon Hollow Farm will speak on commercial signs that are now
valuable relics of cultural history. The lecture titled,
“Collecting Folk-Art; The Trade Sign” will explore the
history and different types of Trade Signs. It will also touch on where
you can find these great pieces of Americana.
On Sunday, February 28th at 2pm, Virginia and
John Larsen of Sign of the Whale Antiques will talk about 19th century
spongeware. The lecture is titled, “Homespun Ceramics:
Stick Spatter.” Although originally intended for household use,
spongeware is now collected as a decorative art.
There is $6 donation for each lecture and
refreshments will be provided. Reservations are required and can be

The CSDA is a non profit business organization
that imposes strict standards on its members for authenticity of their
antique pieces and ethical conduct, courtesy, honesty and friendly
professional service to the public. The CSADA has been a generous

CSADA to be the beneficiary sponsor of their 53rd Annual Fox Valley
Antique Show to be held March 13th and 14th at the Kane County
Fairgrounds. Both the museum and CSADA are concerned with the education
of the next generation of antique enthusiasts. If any business or
